GUMC Choir — Worship at the Heart of Our Church

The Choir leads our congregation in praise, guiding hearts to God through scripture-rich song. We sing to glorify Christ, to encourage the church, and to invite our community into worship.

“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!” — Psalm 100:1–2

Our Calling

We believe worship is both a response to God’s grace and a witness to His goodness. Through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, we teach and admonish one another, letting the word of Christ dwell richly among us.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” — Colossians 3:16

What We Do

The Choir serves on Sundays and special services throughout the year. We prepare thoughtfully, sing joyfully, and aim for excellence that honors God and edifies His people.

Typical rhythm: mid-week rehearsal + warm-up before service. Seasonal services and community events as announced.

How to Join

New voices are welcome. Reading music is helpful but not required; a willing heart and commitment to rehearsal are most important. An informal voice placement may be done to find your best part (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass).

Our Heart in Worship

We sing with reverence and joy, pointing every lyric to Christ. Our prayer is that the Spirit forms us into a people who worship in spirit and truth—and that our music becomes a living testimony to the hope we have in Jesus.

“Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.” — Ephesians 5:19

Scripture and Song

We embrace the biblical vision of vibrant, instrument-rich praise that invites the whole congregation to glorify God.

“Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” — Psalm 150:3–6
